CONNECTING THE IRON MAN MK50 ROBOT TO A DEVICE

HOW DO I CONNECT THE IRON MAN MK50 ROBOT TO THE COMPANION APP?

Once the app is downloaded for your respective device, the Iron Man MK50 Robot connects to the companion app via Bluetooth. To connect properly, ensure that your smart device's Bluetooth functionality is active and that your device is in range of your robot, then launch the companion app. Your robot will automatically connect.

IS WI-FI OR INTERNET ACCESS REQUIRED FOR THE IRON MAN MK50 ROBOT EXPERIENCE?

No. Your Iron Man MK50 Robot communicates seamlessly with the companion app using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology.

Note: Robot registration and some expanded help features in the Iron Man MK50 companion app require your smart device to be connected to the internet via Wi-Fi or cellular service. However, these features are not required to use your robot

THE IRON MAN MK50 ROBOT DOES NOT RESPOND WHEN I INTERACT WITH THE APP. HOW DO I FIX THIS PROBLEM?

If the Iron Man MK50 Robot does not respond when interacting with the companion app, then it is most likely NOT connected to your smart device via Bluetooth or it has temporarily lost its connection to the app. To connect your robot and app properly, do the following:

  1. Fully charge your smart device and Iron Man MK50 Robot.
  2. Make sure that your device's Bluetooth is ACTIVE and/or toggled to the ‘On’ position.
  3. Turn your Iron Man MK50 Robot ON and wait for Friday's voice to indicate that the "MARK50 is ready to connect or activate a protocol."
  4. Keep your device as close as possible to your robot to ensure a strong connection. Try to maintain a 3 foot/1meter distance or closer when troubleshooting a connection issue.
  5. Launch the Iron Man MK50 companion app. Your robot will automatically connect.

I WAS USING THE APP, BUT MY IRON MAN MK50 ROBOT STOPPED RESPONDING. WHAT DO I DO?

If the app is running and your robot stops responding, it is likely due to one of the following reasons:

  1. You moved your smart device out of range. The Iron Man MK50 Robot and app are connected via Bluetooth. This connection will work best when the robot and device remain within 1m /3ft. of each other. Moving too far away will cause the connection to be lost. To remedy: Move your device in range of your robot.
  2. You were inactive. To conserve battery, your Iron Man robot will first go into STANDBY, then eventually POWER DOWN, if you are inactive for a couple minutes. In this state your robot cannot communicate with the app. Fix: To wake up your robot from STANDBY, just cover the top of its head with your palm. If your robot has POWERED DOWN, turn it OFF, then back ON.
  3. The app lost focus. If you leave the app temporarily (to take a call or browse the internet, for example) your app will lose focus and the robot won't be able to communicate with it. Fix: Your robot should automatically reconnect when you return to the app.

If any of these occur, your app should handle the condition and reconnect automatically when it is able to. However, in the event that the app does not reconnect, just close the app and relaunch it. Your robot will automatically reconnect. If you still experience problems with your Iron Man MK50 Robot, please contact our customer service at ironman.service@ubtrobot.com

  4. You can now use the new device to interact with your Iron Man MK50 Robot.

CAN I CONNECT MY IRON MAN MK50 ROBOT TO MORE THAN ONE SMART DEVICE AT THE SAME TIME?

No. You cannot be connected to your Iron Man MK50 Robot with more than one smart device at the same time. However, using the password you selected during the robot setup process, you can interact with and access the custom content on your robot using any supported device.

WHAT IF I FORGET THE 4-DIGIT PASSWORD I USED FOR SET UP?

Your password is designed to keep all custom user content uploaded to your robot safe, secure and accessible only by you or someone you trust. If you forget your 4-digit password, you will not be able to access your robot on any device other than the one you used to setup your robot. If, for some reason, you want to use a different device to interact with your robot you will need to reset your robot.

After three tries of entering an unsuccessful password on the Iron Man MK50 Robot’s companion app, it will automatically go through the new password set up process.

WHAT DOES THE IRON MAN MK50 ROBOT DO WHEN IT'S NOT CONNECTED TO THE COMPANION APP?

While the Iron Man MK50 Robot is waiting to connect to the companion app, it will occasionally react when it hears a sound, when the light level in the room changes or when it's picked up and moved around. In addition, as long as Iron Man MK50 Robot is NOT actively connected to the smart device interface (the app), you can speak out loud the name of any saved protocol to activate it. Hint: Say "Iron Guard!" to activate Iron Guard protocol.

No. When the Iron Man MK50 Robot is not connected to the companion app, you can command it to perform any custom protocol that you've uploaded to it simply by speaking out loud the name of the protocol. For example, say "Patriot!" to activate your Patriot protocol.

DO I HAVE TO BE CONNECTED TO THE APP TO PUT THE IRON MAN MK50 ROBOT INTO GUARD MODE?

No. When the Iron Man MK50 Robot is not connected to the companion app, users can command it to enter Iron Guard protocol simply by saying "Iron Guard!" out loud.

THE IRON MAN MK50 ROBOT’S EYES ARE BLINKING ON AND OFF, BUT HE WON'T DO ANYTHING ELSE. WHAT DO I DO?

If the Iron Man MK50 Robot's eyes are repeatedly blinking on and off, then Iron Man is in Guard Mode.  To exit Guard Mode, just cover the top of your robot's head with your palm.

CREATING CUSTOM CONTENT

HOW DO I GET MY FACE TO SHOW WHEN IRON MAN'S HELMET OPENS?

When interacting with the Mobile Command, Iron Guard and Custom Protocol features, there are several opportunities for users to record a video of your face and display it when Iron Man MK50 Robot’s helmet opens, making it appear as if YOU ARE A SUPER HERO! These opportunities are marked by a video camera icon.

Just tap the icon next to any content button to launch the video capture screen where you can record 4 seconds of face video, along with audio.

Tapping the Checkmark on the capture screen will upload the video content to your robot and associate it with the content button. Now you can trigger the video on the robot whenever you touch that content button.

CAN I EDIT/DELETE VIDEO OR AUDIO THAT I'VE ALREADY UPLOADED TO THE IRON MAN MK%) ROBOT?

IS MY CUSTOM CONTENT UPLOADED TO THE INTERNET?

None of the video or audio content you create is uploaded to or stored on the internet (or the ‘Cloud’. Your custom content only exists on your personal smart device and secured on your Iron Man MK50 Robot by your personal 4-digit password.

AUGMENTED REALITY (AR) PLAY

DOES THE IRON MAN MK50 ROBOT EXPERIENCE HAVE ANY AUGMENTED REALITY PLAY?

Yes! The companion app includes a highly interactive AR feature that allows you to test the MK50 Iron Man armor against nano-drones in an Augmented Reality, combat simulator. Users will need to unlock and upgrade Starktech by continuing play and leveling up to engage different nano-drone enemies, each with unique combat abilities, in dozens of waves of high-energy AR play.

WHAT IS AN AUGMENTED REALITY (AR) TRACKING MAT AND DO I NEED ONE?

To interact with the Augmented Reality features of the Iron Man MK50 companion app, you need the Iron Man MK50 AR tracking mat. This is included in the packaging, rolled up to the left of the Iron Man Robot MK50 Robot.

Like many AR experiences, a specially designed image allows your device to properly orient and display the augmented reality environment and everything it contains. If you no longer have access to the AR mat that came with your product, you can print one using a standard color printer capable of printing at Letter size (8.5"x11".) To print a new AR tracking image, visit this link and follow the instructions: https://store.ubtrobot.com/ironman.

THE AUGMENTED REALITY ENVIRONMENT ISN'T DISPLAYING CORRECTLY. WHAT CAN I DO?

If the AR world environment displays incorrectly (e.g. seems to tilt, flip or flicker) your device is losing its ability to track the orientation of the "game world." To regain tracking, just point your camera so that it can see the tracking mat and your robot and hold it steady until tracking is regained. It should only take a brief moment.

WHILE PLAYING IN AR, IT SAYS THAT "TRACKING WAS LOST." WHAT DO I DO?

When it comes to augmented reality experiences, different smart devices have differing levels of capability; and even the highest end devices can lose tracking during AR play for a number of reasons. Regaining tracking is very easy - just move close to your robot and point your smart device directly at the tracking mat, holding it steady until tracking is regained. It should only take a brief moment.

ADDITIONAL TROUBLE SHOOTING

MY IRON MAN MK50 ROBOT'S HELMET IS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION. WHAT DO I DO?

To avoid breaking the Iron Man MK50 Robot’s face plate, never try to force his helmet shut. To correct this issue, turn your Iron Man robot OFF then back ON. If your robot is already OFF, just turn it ON. The helmet will reset automatically.
